Being allowed to write this novel was really a fabulous piece of luck. It was a chance to share my love of Forever Knight with a paperback instead of an electronic audience.

I feel the strength of Forever Knight rests with Nick and his quest for mortality--that his belief that he will find some sort of peace and/or redemption through good works gives the viewer a sense of hope. What more powerful message is there than that by giving something positive back to the world you might somehow eradicate your own misdeeds or missed opportunities?

Nick often seems to believe that he knows what's best for everyone around him, which isn't often the case. I wanted to explore that in this novel, as well as his own feelings about what vampirism means to him, what he wants out of his quest for mortality, and what, exactly, he's willing to pay for the privilege.
