This unique problem-solving program is designed for children from reading readiness through third grade. It was created to increase young children's understanding of mathematical concepts through direct visual involvement. Students demonstrate their understanding of the concept by creating a drawing before providing the answer - a perfect combination of reading, math, and art! Each book contains 180 problems, one for each day of the school year. Students love making pictures, and at the same time, they become successful problem solvers. The open-ended method promotes diversity and confidence among students as they use their own abilities and perspectives to reason through and solve mathematical problems. Students learn to look for more than one way to solve a problem, developing confidence in their reasoning abilities and improving problem solving skills. The series includes five Teacher Resource Books, one for each level in grades 1-3, one for grades 4-5, and one for grades K-3 based on animal themes. Student Workbooks, with activities chosen from the Grades K-3 Animal Themes are also available.
