Inside The Active Server Platform examines the complex issues involved in building business applications on and for this set of technologies and explains why Active Server greatly simplifies their development. The book-and-CD set focuses on the synergy produced by combining Active Server Pages with Microsoft Transaction Server. (Microsoft Transaction Server is a component-based, application programming model for developing low-cost, distributed applications -- complete with the mission-critical transaction processing features normally found in high-end mainframe systems.) Content is reinforced by case study information drawn from the author's several large projects and clients. Major sections are devoted to Transaction Server and to Active Server Pages. Examples are drawn from a variety of development languages.

Inside The Active Server Platform topics include:
-- A compelling justification of the Active Server platform
-- Object technology, multi-tier client-server, and transaction processing
-- Active Server Pages, ActiveX "TM" server components, and integration with Commerce Server
-- Transaction Server and its environment, programming issues, and APIs
-- Building a sample Transaction Server application with Microsoft Visual C++ "RM", Visual Basic "RM" and Visual J++ "TM"
