Synopsis

This "sequel" to "World Resources 2005: The Wealth of the Poor" seeks to expand our understanding of the process and impacts of 'scaling up' projects that successfully integrate good governance and environmental management in the quest to alleviate rural poverty. "WRR 2007" identifies and explores three elements essential to the longterm success of scaled-up projects: local ownership; representative, robust, and adaptable local institutions; and the development of adaptive networks. Analysis of these three factors will examine the steps that governments, communities, and intermediary institutions must take to make scaling efforts viable, while also addressing challenges and hurdles that may be anticipated.
