Thad L. Beyle is Thomas C. Pearsall Professor of Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was board chairman of the North Carolina Center for Public Policy Research for ten years and has edited several books, including Governors and Hard Times (1992), Gubernatorial Transitions (1988), and Reelecting the Governor (1986).
