From the Author

Eating seasonally used to be automatic. Our ancestors did not have the convenience of all-night mini-marts and microwaves; our grandmothers did not have access to imported strawberries in February. Food choices were defined by the seasons, dependent upon a good local harvest, a backyard garden and home canning skills. For those who walk a goddess path, and those who cherish the earth and her bounty, the kitchen truly is the soul and center of the home. It is the hub of our alchemy! Tuning in to the thirteen moons, I became aware of her influence and subtle changes. I began writing recipes for each moon and her spiritual lesson. Cooking by Moonlight is about honoring our ancestors’ wisdom; it encourages us to make conscious food choices in harmony with the seasons and moon phases. It’s about trusting our body, developing our intuition - and having fun in the kitchen! With thirteen lunar meditations, menus, practical magic and tips for using herbs and spices with intention, Cooking By Moonlight features 113 sensual and scrumptious recipes. Also included are Kitchen Blessings for each moon phase and a lovely foreword by astrologer Dana Gerhardt of mooncircles.com. The changing moons and seasons guide us; the waxing and waning moon inspires us. Mother Earth teaches us patience and the art of centering, the art of being and knowing. The moon urges us to honor our intuition, to feed ourselves soul food that nourishes us, body and sprit. Cooking By Moonlight is wonderful way to begin, writes Dana Gerhardt. It is my hope that Cooking By Moonlight will be an inspiring resource for all those creating goddess-centered culinary magic.
