This ambitious work provides access to some 16,000 of the most significant books, article, and news reports in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. A supplement to Science Fiction and Fantasy Reference Index, 1878-1985 (Gale, 1987), the present volume covers material published from 1985 to 1991 as well as newly located earlier material. Together the two works contain some 35,000 discrete bibliographic items, representing approximately 50 to 60 percent of the directly applicable material published to date. The volume is arranged in two sections: author (subarranged by title) and subject. In both sections, citations are printed in full, with no abbreviations, allowing users immediate access to all information. An entry may have as many as 50 subject terms assigned.
