In writing it, I really worked toward trying to explain the WHY of programming rather than just the HOW. You can use your Lingo dictionary to look up the syntax for a handler, but when should you use one? How do parameters work? What about loops - what's the secret to those?

If you're ready for the next step, this can help explain all those little mysteries. This book was written for Director 5, but there's no reason why you can't use it for 6. For the most part, everything's still valid, since we're talking about programming concepts, not just the instructions.

Whether you're doing a little programming, or a lot, there shouldn't be anything scary about the Lingo language. A lot of it makes sense, if you just know some of the basic ideas. In "Lingo!", I explain as many of those ideas as I can.
