The book is neither a comprehensive answer to integrating a network nor a receipt book for resolving specific network issues for CORBA or Java. It focuses on the broad project management issues for network upgrades in areas including object-oriented infrastructure (CORBA and Java), administrative planning (people, time resources), technical planning (modeling techniques, tools, interoperability).
The technique of asking basic questions rather than 'do this' is used because of the recognized network differences caused by legacy software and hardware.
The most common reason for not achieving the customer's expected goals is poor up-front planning. This book tries to change this situtation. I have been involved in too many failures.
