Synopsis
A practical treatment of control loop analysis that eschews such techniques as Laplace transforms, Z transforms, and state space analysis, which are unfamiliar to practicing design and maintenance engineers, in favor of simple algebraic equations that illustrate basic rules of thumb. The techniques originated by Ziegler and Nichols and popularized by Shinskey are extended and new simple equations are presented. The tuning methods documented by P.W. Murrill are also summarized. The new chapters in this edition add a synopsis of important relationships, a system perspective, an auto tuner evaluation, and batch control strategies.
