Synopsis

Kittredge is intimately connected with the West through his family's Oregon cattle ranch, and he has watched his region decline for many decades now. These essays directly address environmental concerns, and the problematic mythologies of the western experience.

About the Author
William Kittredge grew up on a cattle ranch in southeastern Oregon. He taught creative writing at the University of Montana for twenty-nine years and retired as Regents Professor of English. He now lives in Missoula, Montana.
