About the Author

Connie Rau has spent most of her life singing songs, then writing songs. Reading books, then writing books. Singing in choirs, then helping with children's choirs. Writing songs, then recording songs with her little neighbor kids. Her creative spirit is devoted to children of all ages. A voice for kids, Connie writes children’s songs to help kids feel safe, and is known for her MarNee Moose and Friends--characters she created to sing helpful messages to children. Connie’s current writing venture came about after she helped in her local pre-K school cafeteria. When the kids marched into the lunchroom—in straight lines, making the little bubble face while clasping hands behind their backs—it brought up feelings of sweetness but also struggle and frustration. At times, not being allowed to talk can seem unbearable to kids. At that age, what children do best is talk! This legitimate desire on the part of youngsters can be quite humorous! Connie declared right there and then, “I need to write their book!” Connie linked hands with noted children’s illustrator VL Durand, whose colorful images express the childlike nature.
