About the Author

Angie Joyce Halama and Matthew Paul Halama met while both were studying teaching at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Angie went on to earn a master’s degree in education from Grand Canyon University, and she has taught middle school for ten years at various schools in Wisconsin, Arizona, and Minnesota. Matthew taught elementary school for several years in Arizona before switching to a career in the global trade/logistics industry.

Their daughter, Ellianna—the inspiration for Door within a Door—was born in 2013. Like the book’s main character, she has messy blond hair and dancing blue eyes. Every day, with her relentless spunk and independent spirit, she motivates her parents to be more creative and fun. The whole family shares a love for fantastical stories of magical creatures, mysterious places, and adventurous wonder.
