About the Author

Angela Shirley is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, at The University of West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. In 1987, she obtained her PhD from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts, with a specialization in Mathematical Statistics. She has been teaching Mathematics ever since—first at Mt. St. Mary’s College, Los Angeles, and then at UWI, Mona, before coming to St Augustine in 1996. She has taught courses in Introductory Mathematics; as well as Statistics and a range of other Mathematics courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. She also spent three years as a lecturer in Mathematics Education at the School of Education, UWI, St Augustine, and is certified in University Teaching and Learning. Dr. Shirley has a love for imparting mathematics skills to her students and for seeing them succeed. She lives in St. Joseph, Trinidad, with her husband, Lindsay; and has three children.
