9781535290395: Tales of The Dancing Rabbit: 1

Synopsis

Welcome to Tales of The Dancing Rabbit. This is a non-fiction compilation of 84 short stories and over 150 color photographs, prepared in a soft-cover 8 1/2" x 11" format. A great coffee-table book and a unique gift for those who love and appreciate Native American art and culture. We hope you have a wonderful time reading our tales of adventures throughout the American Southwest. Our stories are written from our hearts, with a few additional stories contributed by Jamie McClain.Storytelling is an expression of art, and we have found that the more one knows and understands about the artist, the people, and the culture surrounding the art, the more expressive the storytelling becomes. If one knows the story of Romeo and Juliet, for example, then the opera becomes more than just nice songs. So our challenge is to bring you some of the art of Native Americans of the American Southwest, and to relate some of the stories behind the art. Our stories will capture some of our adventures in the pueblos, talking to current artists and gaining a better understanding of not only their craft, but also the personalities of the artists. We will also write about artists who have already passed, trying to bring to life some of the stories that they told. Sometimes the information is biographical, and sometimes it is stories that were passed down through our family records.Almost every morning, we sit in The Dancing Rabbit Gallery or on the back porch, discussing our adventures or recalling poignant childhood memories. The stories are generally written from Katie’s perspective, using her words, though Michael listens very carefully, and he does most of the writing. As with all other things, we find this team approach to be quite satisfying. So come join us on this journey through the world of Native American culture and storytelling. Thank you for your time, and if you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to email us. We would love to hear from you. You can always reach us on our website, thedancingrabbitgallery.com.
