About the Author

Novelist and short - story writer, Nathaniel Hawthorne (1804 - 1864) is one of the most influential American writers. A vital figure in the development of American Literature, he first became known for his Twice Told Tales, a collection of now - famous short stories. Later in life, he also wrote novels. A contributor to various periodicals throughout his life, Hawthorne left an indelible mark on world literature.
