Programmed Perceptions is an analysis of racial injustices that happen consistently in America in various environments. Power, exclusion and social classes all collide to show how unfair treatment is very fluid but often goes undetected. Each chapter offers a unique perspective into how different aspects of life are affected by racial issues. Throughout the book there is information to create awareness about how everyone can play an integral role in creating a better society and equality for all. Programmed Perceptions takes in account actual current events and is told from a perspective of life experiences. Within the book there is a call for action and an honest assessment of things that need to happen for us to continue to move in a positive direction. Programmed Perceptions should be used in Higher Education, organizations and anywhere that will educate and promote change in our thought process and behaviors. Implementing change can not happen until we truly understand the issue and the position that we have within the issue. Being silent is not going to help us overcome this deficit that has been created by society. It is important to not only education ourselves on what is happening but understand what needs to be done in order to bring us together to uplift one another. It is becoming increasing obvious that black people are held to a different standard in America. Although we are not given more opportunities, respect or the benefit of the doubt we are expected to always excel. Having real freedom and not being judged, stereotyped or ridiculed is truly our American Dream.
