Type 2 diabetes is a serious disease that affects tens of millions of Americans, and new patients are diagnosed every day. The causes of type 2 diabetes are varied, but there are simple ways to handle the illness. Anyone with the disease can use the advice found in The Little Diabetes Book of Common Sense to begin a self-management regimen that can lead to healthier living.
The concept of blood sugar levels is familiar to anyone suffering from diabetes. Author Carol J. Flick Wright, RN, CDE, discusses how blood sugar affects the body of a person who has diabetes. She outlines the three simplest ways to manage diabetes: healthy eating, regular exercise, and effective stress management.
Wright helps readers create a game plan for management and symptom prevention. This includes a personal meal plan to help you monitor your carbohydrate intake and think differently about your nutrition decisions. Consider every day a new game and a new chance to beat the disease.
Wright also answers the most frequently asked questions about diabetes, including queries about prognosis, possible complications, and daily fluctuations in blood sugar levels. She puts readers at ease with her no-nonsense approach to diet, exercise, and stress-management.
