"An Exceptionally Simple Theory of Everything" is a hypothetical foundation for a unified field theory, often referred to as "E8 Theory", which attempts to describe all known fundamental interactions in physics and to stand as a possible theory of everything. The title itself is a play on the words used to describe the E8 Lie Groups of Lie Algebra. These groups are often referred to as an exceptional simple and large group of Lie Algebras. Antony Garrett Lisi published this theory in 2007. The theory combines the particle fields of The Standard Model of particle physics and gravitation into a theory of everything (TOE) that can be modeled by the E8 Lie algebra.
