Hiram Hoyt Richmond (1843 - 1908) was an author who possesses more that ordinary literary talent and has devoted as much time as possible to its cultivation, notwithstanding many engrossing business interest, as early as 1885 publishing a book of poems entitled "Montezuma," relating to the life and orgin of the early Aztecs. A work of unusual merit, it secured immediate recognition and placed him among the literary geniuses of the west. At various times he has been called Upon for the production of poems on special ocasions in the city of Sacramento and elsewhere and has always fulfilled the high expections of those who know him.
