Synopsis

I am no hero. Yet I’d like to share my lifetime experiences. Through this book and presentations, I hope to affect as many people as possible. Being a Holocaust survivor, I’ve witnessed outlandishly inhuman behavior. By helping others to understand the past as well as the importance of education, awareness, appreciation, and support of human rights, I hope we can all say, “Never again!”

It’s difficult for me to write about the past. Some people don’t realize how hard it is for me to tell my story. I usually joke around—that’s the way I am. It’s the way I relax, because painful memories are always there. When the war broke out on September 1, 1939, I was only two years old. Consequently, I needed to depend upon my mom’s recollections for many of the details provided in this memoir. Some of the events were so traumatic that even though I was a child then, they’ve engraved themselves on my consciousness.
