Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the importance of specialized equipment for use by weights and measures officials in testing large-capacity scales, such as those used for weighing automobile trucks. The author argues that to ensure accurate testing of these scales, inspectors require appropriate equipment capable of applying a substantial test load. Through a historical context, the author analyzes the evolution of testing equipment, highlighting the transition from small test weights to the need for large-unit weights to accommodate the increasing size and capacity of scales. The book discusses the benefits of using large-unit weights, such as 500 or 1,000-pound units, in terms of reduced testing time, improved accuracy, and increased inspector confidence. The author emphasizes the importance of considering factors such as weight handling, transportation, and mobility when designing testing equipment. By providing valuable insights and practical recommendations, this book aims to equip weights and measures officials with the knowledge and resources necessary to effectively test large-capacity scales, ensuring accurate weighing practices.
