Summary The lake is being filled with sediment brought in by streams. Rain wash, wind, and waves, and the filling is aided by vegetation. The materials are being assorted and arranged in layers. Assortment is also seen in the shale strata that were formed in the shallow, ancient Devonian sea. These strata have been given a dip at this point and they are jointed.
