Like the previous Conference at the Victoria Falls, the Zimbabwe Conference was again under canvas, the camp being erected close to the Great Zimbabwe Hotel. The camping site was ideal. And the camp could no doubt have been a very happy one, if only the weather had been kinder. Yet these are circumstances over which nobody has any control, and the less said about them the better. A tribute must nevertheless be paid to the delegates for the admirable way they tried to make the best of everything, and refused to be discouraged by the adverse weather conditions. Nobody appreciated the sporting spirit of the delegates more than the Secretary, who had been responsible for the organisation of the camp. And whose disap pointment can better be imagined than described.
While it was regretted that the Hon. G.m Huggins, Prime Minister and Minister of Native Affairs could not be present, the Conference was honoured with the presence of the Hon. R.d Gilchrist, who attended several sessions, and conveyed to the Conference the compliments and best wishes of both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs.
