The non-payment of the gallant militia of Tennessee for their hardy, adventurous and ia valuable services during the late war, has ex cited much animadversnon in that state, as well as general] y surprised the people. It has also been ublicly stated, that the regular troops pos on the north-western frontier, have not received a dollar for the last fifteen months. Why these things, or either of them, are ao, is a very natural as well as an interesting enquiry; for the ublic interest is deeply concerned in the tide ity of the public nts, in a matter so delicately meeting the oh no reputation. Want of meansxit is believe cannot be plead in ex cuse for it - the finances are represented to be in the most pros erous condition; and the te venue, in gene seems greatly to have ex ceeded the estimates made of its product. And, besides, if money were wanted, the resump tion is, that it might be easily rais to any amount required by the wants of the vern ment. W lay, then, have the militia of ennes see not been paid?
