Excerpt from Enclosures for Fumigating Stored Raisins
The efficiency of the various stacks and fumigation chambers in retaining effective concentrations of methyl bromide is shown by the data of tables 1, 2, and 3. In table 1 data are given regarding gas concentrations at intervals of 2, 6, and 21; hours during the initial fumigation of 8 different types of enclosures. In table 2 data are given to show the effect of weathering on the gas-retaining properties of one of the paper-covered stacks. Gas concentrations obtained when the stack was fumigated after weathering for 2 months are compared with those obtained during the initial fumigation. In table 3 gas concentrations obtained during the fumigation of a masonite chamber when empty and when filled with raisins are compared.
