Excerpt from An Elementary Grammar of the Greek Language: Containing a Series of Greek and English Exercises for Translation, With the Requisite Vocabularies, and an Appendix on the Homeric Verse and Dialect
In preparing the present work, it has been the aim of the trans lator to adapt it to the wants of students in this country. He has occasionally, therefore, made slight changes in the original, where it seemed desirable. Occasionally, too, he has given explanations of his own in the body of the book, where be supposed the wants of the younger pupils might require them. But all the principles of the Grammar and nearly all the arrangement are retained as they were given by the author. The translator has endeavored to make such a book as the author himself would have done, under similar circumstances.
