Air and Water Drainage - Cold air settles, hence the bottom of a low, enclosed valley is a relatively poor place for a brooder plant. If there is not a fairly good movement of air, the lower levels are more likely to be damp as well as cold. Good air drainage tends to insure against dampness, and consequently frosts are much less severe.
