Excerpt from A Digest of the Early Connecticut Probate Records
Of the volume before us, it may be said that to take it up and carry it to a conclusion without the guiding hand of its originator and leading spirit, had been a task that would have been far more difficult had it not been for' an intimate knowledge of the personal ideas and wishes of the author, whose acquaintance and friendship has transformed the task to a pleasurable duty. Nothing has occurred during its preparation to call for any more explanations than have already appeared in the prefaces to the first and second volumes, yet it has been considered advisable to remind the read er. (as was done in the second volume) that the first volume contains in its first thirty-two pages a list showing the changes made in the different Probate Districts of Connecticut from the beginning, and also what towns were comprised by them at every change, as this list is of ines timable value as a time and money saver to those engaged in the work of tracing their ancestry, as well as to professional genealogists.
