Excerpt from Tables of Complex Hyperbolic and Circular Functions
The tables in this book present hyperbolic and circular functions of a complex variable, both in polar and rectangular coordinates. Such complex functions have not hitherto been published, except over a very restricted range. They have important applications in electrical engineering. For instance, it is possible with their help to find in a few minutes the potential, current and power, at any point of an alternating-current line conductor of known constants and terminal conditions; whereas the same problem, to a like degree of precision, without aid from these functions, and by older methods, would probably occupy hours of labor and cover several sheets of computing-paper.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is the groundbreaking work of the late Prof. A.E. Kennelly, who was a renowned electrical engineer and professor at Harvard University. Electrical engineers, mathematicians, and historians of science will find this tome an invaluable resource. Published in 1914, this book presents hyperbolic and circular functions of complex variables in polar and rectangular coordinates. The author's detailed explanations and carefully crafted examples make this book suitable even for those with only a basic understanding of mathematics. An appendix contains useful correcting factors and a table of semi-exponential functions. Kennelly's work provides a solid foundation for understanding the complex functions that underpin alternating-current lines and other electrical phenomena, making it an enduring contribution to the field of electrical engineering. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Seller Inventory # 9781527745834_0
