But we find by the certificate of the Rev. Samuel Merwin, who was scribe to the General Association in Connecticut, held in Ellington as late as June 19th, 1810, that the still regard this book of dis cipline as worthy 0 their support, and promulgate the doctrines it contains Wli out alterations: for Mr. Merwin says, The Association being informed that Messrs. Lockwood and Backus propose printing a new edition of the Confession of Faith agreed upon at Saybroolt, A. D. 1708, together with the heads of agreement formerly assented to by the united minis ters called Pres terms and Congregational, and the articles for the a ministration of church discipline as adopted by the General Assembly at new-haven on the 14th of October, 1708, Voted, That Rev. Messrs. Stephen W. Stebbins, Elijah Waterman, and Heman Humphrey, be a committee to superintend the pub lication, and see to the correctness of the some accord to thefirst edition.
