For me starting on this journey to business owner was daunting, I had all the usual fears, fear of failure, fear of losing face, fear of going broke, fear of letting myself and my daughter down - especially as she had aspirations of going to Uni, but I also had the added worry of failing because of my health. Equally though, my health was the reason I wanted to be my own boss, to improve it and manage it. I had a pituitary (base of brain) tumour removed in 2012, then radiotherapy in 2014 which destroyed the tumour but also the pituitary gland. With that life has to adjust a little as my body relies on meds throughout the day to stay alive and various hospital appointments throughout the year. I've always loved making a difference in my work, having a purpose, which is why I've loved being a PA / admin manager during my career. But, working for others became hard work - my dream was to be my own boss so I could manage my health. I started my business as a Virtual Assistant in 2016 and am now earning more than I ever have, don't get stressed (bf and daughter disagree - it's them not me). And now, this is why I've published my first book, How to be a Virtual Assistant, to help others move from PA to VA. Because no one should struggle in life and work need not be hard.
