Synopsis
The five short stories in this book serve as a warning to everybody that might be lured into believing that migrating abroad is the only way to better their lives. The book tells the story of three young girls, a middle-aged woman as well as a grandparent who fly abroad with bogus employers who later expose them to untold suffering such as rape, being forced to be in the sex industry as well as both verbal and physical abuses. One of them ends up committing suicide and the other one comes back with a mental condition which could grow worse if no psychiatric help was quickly offered. Others become wandering wanderers without any proper papers to stay abroad. The stories are largely a wake up call to anybody witnessing such atrocities to straight away report the cases to the relevant authorities. Mind you, this does not only happen to women. Young men all over the world get into the hands of people traffickers and thousands of them perish in the Mediterranean sea whilst the rest end up employed by unscrupulous gang masters.
