At the Springs with George is about George Washington’s life & adventures in Berkeley Springs & nearby West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland & Pennsylvania, partly told in his own words. Did young George discover “Ye Fam’d Warm Springs”? Did he survey and design the Town of Bath around the Springs? Was Berkeley Springs the first Summer White House? What was his household like and who did he meet here? The answers – and much more – are in these well-illustrated pages. From his days as a teenaged surveyor along the Potomac & Cacapon rivers…. through the hard-fought battles of the French & Indian War and the Revolution… until he was the most famous man in the new United States of America… Washington always kept this area in his heart and mind. Here’s the real story of George Washington and his love affair with Berkeley Springs and the surrounding region.
