Billy Coker has survived eleven months in Vietnam, but will he survive his last thirty days?
He’s perfected cynicism in Nam. It’s his forte, and Billy has raised it to its highest form. And why this St. Sebastian medal around his neck has meant so much seems silly. After all, it was given to him by a little fat girl in high school. With friends like him, Bonnie Jo Parker probably never had a chance.
A love story, a war story, a story of hope and redemption, Raeford's MVP is by turns deadly serious and side-splittingly funny throughout. Award-winning author Rick DeStefanis introduces readers to the world of a soldier who, if he survives, faces the futureless void of a life without meaning. His only hope is to make sense of all he has experienced or perhaps find someone special he lost along the way.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Billy Coker, a 19-year-old army infantry squad leader, is in the final 30 days of his tour of duty in Vietnam when he realizes he must find a way to get past the horrors of war and find his future. Although his predicament was self-created by his high school obsession with the opposite sex, he can remember but one meaningful relationship from those years. That was with an over-weight girl he mostly shunned. Bonnie Jo Parker always said he was too cynical when he called their classmates egotistical jerks. If only she could see him now. He'd perfected cynicism in Nam. It was his forte, and he'd raised it to its highest form. A love story, a war story, a story of hope and redemption, Raeford's MVP is by turns deadly serious and side-splittingly funny throughout. Award-winning author Rick DeStefanis introduces readers to the world of a combat veteran who escapes death only to face the futureless void of post-traumatic stress and psychological impotence. His only hope is to find someone special he lost along the way. Buy this book now and discover why author Rick DeStefanis has won four literary awards for his Vietnam War Series.
