Award-winning screenwriter, Heather Shreve, has put together her writings and art in a collection--a smooth blend of observations from nature, original quotes, witty essays, sprinkled with serious writing and narratives, including a sample of her tv pilot The Bamboo Wife. From prose about Africa to poems, you will get a taste of her ‘way with words’ and her unique artistic flavor. Inherently full of hope, it answers the question over and over, “What are we willing to do for each other…?”

About the Author

Heather was born in Baltimore County, Maryland in the early 1960s and raised on a small farm. She found art early and began selling her wildlife paintings around age eleven. From there, it became a passion and a vocation. By 1983, at age 19, Heather had made her way to Africa on a zoological expedition across Kenya. There, she discovered a land of massive beauty which resonated with her on a level that has never been surpassed. As she discovered, the country was on fire with poaching and the black-market ivory trade. While there, she was sold a white ‘bone’ bracelet only to discover 3 ½ weeks later that is was ivory! On the Indian Ocean, she was arrested, strip-searched, and jailed in an ‘off-the-grid’ jail in the Shimba Hills of Mombasa. This harrowing experience was recounted in her book Caught On The Equator, Finding the Fire Within and also as a leadership keynote speech. After being married and having two children, Heather divorced in 2008 and rediscovered her love of writing. She has written eight books including two health workbooks, and several non-fiction books as well as the epic novel, Once A Colonel. Now, much of Heather’s efforts go into writing screenplays and other stories based in history, real characters and real events. Armed with her grandfather’s 1,200-page Army service record and his diaries; The Colonel’s Way, The Secret Diaries of a POW, she has created and written a film [Once A Colonel] and a three-season TV series [The Colonel’s Wife] around an amazing American life. You can find Heather’s books, including Once A Colonel, The Pen, The Pearl, The Paragraph, and The Colonel’s Way both on Amazon.com and her web site: http://www.heather-shreve.com. Please contact her there if you would like a hand-signed book, or to arrange an appearance as a speaker at your next event or conference.
