About the Author

Walter Lippmann (1889-1974) was an American writer, journalist, and political commentator whose work shaped twentieth-century discussions of democracy, media, and public life. A founding editor of The New Republic and later a nationally syndicated columnist, Lippmann received two Pulitzer Prizes for his commentary.
