About the Author

Billy is an author, international speaker, current Chief of Police for a Metro Atlanta Police Department and a 33 year law enforcement veteran. He was an early adopter of law enforcement’s use of social media to engage and inform communities and demonstrate transparency. Because of his interest in helping others, Billy devotes a considerable amount of time to educating law enforcement leaders about the benefits of the use of social media for their agencies. He has lectured extensively about law enforcement’s use of social media and blogs for The Social Media Beat as part of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Center for Social Media. He has also lectured internationally providing Community Policing training for the Egyptian National Police and Social Media and Media Relations training for the Georgian National Police. Besides his interest in the use of social media by law enforcement, Billy is passionate about developing leaders, delivering high quality service and educating citizens about the work of law enforcement to help build better relationships with the community.
