Synopsis

Vocab35 provides an engaging opportunity for people from ages 18 to 80 to improve their speaking, listening, writing, and reading vocabularies. Research also exists that indicates the possibility that expanding one's vocabulary might be another effective deterrent to memory loss. The 350 challenging words included in this book were selected after examining a variety of high-level books, periodicals, newspapers, and standardized tests. These words are presented in 35 lists of ten words each, with each word presented in context. Every list is followed by four engaging exercises designed to measure as well as to deepen the understanding of the words. An idiom concludes each list. A comprehensive review test is presented after every fifth list. The book's two appendixes feature a review of the parts of speech and a list of common word parts (prefixes, suffixes, and roots).
