Animals introduces topics such as adaptation, migration, and hibernation. Weather is the weakest of the lot, with no explanation of why seasonal changes occur. A simple glossary and index introduce the rudiments of nonfiction. Follow-up activities stress outdoor explorations, such as leaf gathering or animal observation, rather than research.
