Legend has it that in the nearby villages, terrible witches lurked the place, taking with them all children who did not stay asleep after ten at night, flying in their brooms, they smelled since great distances to those children who still remained awake and coming in into their balconies and windows, witches kidnapped children to have them as servants in their lair, at the damned mountain. Around that mountain there was an enchanted forest, and anyone who dared to cross it would turn to a stone, leaving helpless those poor parents trying to rescue their children. Witches besides having children as servants, the stopped feeding the ones who got older, leaving them locked and abandoned to their fate. The inhabitants of the village, mostly woodcutters, began to despair because among the kidnapped children and people petrified in the forest, all seemed lost for them.
