Synopsis

In this second historical novel, Carl G. Schott launches a new adventure for Chief Inspector L'Aiglon. Following the resolution of the gruesome MURDER IN MORLAIX, L'Aiglon travels to Haiti to rescue a French Cultural Attache and group of missionaries who have disappeared. The Cultural Attache, Angelique, first met L'Aiglon during the Morlaix affair. Their adventures in Haiti lead them both to understand and appreciate the history and culture of the island. Tainos, freed African Slaves, and the power the European States still held over the island are all part of this engrossing tale. As is always the case with historical novels, the "real" characters are often more bizarre than the fictional ones.

About the Author

Carl “C.G.” Schott is an accomplished poet and historian. He currently lectures in the field of European History--Ancient, Medieval and Modern as part of the Oscher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of South Florida. He has published books and articles in the fields of business, history, and poetry. His most recent work, A MURDER IN MORLAIX introduced Chief Inspector Corentin L’Aiglon. Prior to this novel, Carl had published MISSION TO SAINT PETERSBURG. That book is a detailed historical account of the diplomatic history of Europe in the 1870s. Carl’s historical novels are meant as “edu-tainment.” They illustrate more about the history of Europe in that period than his scholarly work ever could. A few fictitious characters add spice and help illustrate motivation from a different perspective. Interestingly enough, the documented actions of the “real” characters in these historical novels are often more bizarre than those of the fictional characters. Carl earned a Ph.D in History from the University of Notre Dame and has had a wide-ranging career in the military, the fashion industry, the pharmaceutical world and now in the field of writing and lecturing. Aside from MISSION TO SAINT PETERSBURG and A MURDER IN MORALAIX, Carl earlier published two books of poetry and essays on writing--NOT LIKE CHOCOLATE and NOT HERE/NOT NOW. Carl lives in Tampa with his wife Ilona. He has two sons, Sam and Ben, and so far five wonderful grandchildren—Melissa, Joey, Sam, Katie, and Alexa. Janalynn will be coming soon. His wife Ilona is his constant source of inspiration.
