About the Author

Arturo Urena Hamelitz (Sucuri), a native of San Diego, USA, is a renowned Capoeira teacher who has lived in Brazil and Japan, where he currently runs the Capoeira Zoador Academy. A Masters graduate of Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan, Sucuri is a cultural entrepreneur who has promoted Brazilian culture in Asia. Fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and Japanese, in 2013 he founded Brazil Culture & Arts Congress Japan (BCACJapan), Asia’s first five day event celebrating Brazilian culture and art.
