Synopsis

Written in the style of a Japanese fairy tale, this book deals with the problems of coping with being different than others. A tiny infant, Okee-chan, is adopted by an elderly couple. His body growth can't be stopped. He grows larger each day. While he enjoys periods of happiness, there are times of suffering and woe due to his being so unlike other persons. He must learn to ciope with these as he continues to increase in size until and even after he becomes a giant. All of us know of persons suffering from being unusual whether too fat or too thin, having skin coloring or body shapes different from others. Okee-chan must face the taunts of others his size and many other difficulties The tale tells how he coped with such a life. It is hoped that it will help others suffering from similar problems.

About the Author

Dr. Palmer has had a very distinguished career. He served in brief mission work with the Native Americans of the Yakima tribe, with Chinese in New York City, with the churches and in Public Health on the island of Jamaica, West Indies and as a full term missionary in Japan. He was an Executive in the Division of Overseas Ministries of the Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ), Dean of the College of Missions, a pastor/counselor, and the Chairman of the Division of Science and Mathematics in a college. He has four earned degrees: B.S., M. Div., M.S. Public Health, and D.Min. Now retired, his current hobbies are writing, carving and painting pictures. He and his vivacious wife live in Fort Worth, Texas and enjoy two lovely daughters and five lively grandchildren.
