Synopsis
The present book is a study of strictly convex linear metric spaces and some results on approximation and fixed points in metric linear spaces and metric spaces. In this introductory chapter, we give a brief historical background of the subject (strict convexity and approximation theory applications of fixed point theorems to approximation theory) and a chapterwise summary of the results contained in this book.

About the Author
Dr. Meenu Sharma has a PhD in mathematics and is principal of A.S. College for Women, Khanna, Punjab, India. Having teaching and administrative experience for twenty-seven years, she has written more than ten research papers and has authored many books, including Approximation Theory, Fixed Point Theory, Functional Analysis, Number Theory, Differential Equation, Vector Analysis, and Co-ordinate Geometry. Besides this, she is holding several administration positions in governmental and academic institutions.
