Rafael Delgado (1853 - 1914) fue un poeta, escritor, novelista y catedrático mexicano. En 1896, fue nombrado miembro de la Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, ocupó la silla XII. Su obra se inscribe dentro del regionalismo, en ella, narra los cambios acaecidos en el país durante el régimen del general Porfirio Díaz y los trastornos que producen en las relaciones familiares: La Calandria (1891), Angelina (1895), Los parientes ricos (1903) e Historia vulgar (1904), y también relatos coleccionados en Cuentos y notas (1902).
