Synopsis

On the evening of June 17, 2015, a mass shooting took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, South Carolina, United States. Nine people were killed, including the senior pastor, state senator Clementa C. Pinckney; a tenth victim survived. Police arrested a suspect, later identified as a 21-year-old white man, Dylann Roof, in Shelby, North Carolina, the morning after the attack. Roof was said to have declared his intention of starting a race war with the shootings. As Dylann Roof appeared in court to formally hear the charges against him, representatives of the victims' families came forward to deliver a powerful message of forgiveness. "You took something very precious away from me," a family representative for Ethel Lance, who died in the massacre, told Roof on behalf of Lance's loved ones. You hurt me. You hurt a lot of people, BUT I FORGIVE YOU. In this book RELIGION RACISM AND RECONCILIATION Brondon Mathis explains how African-American Christians can follow the lead of the families of the victims of the Charleston shootings and the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to release forgiveness, healing and racial reconciliation, unlocking the keys to Justice, reparations and restoration of the lost years of oppression and racial injustice. In Religion Racism and Reconciliation Mathis shares his experiences, testimonies and revelation of how God delivered him from racial bitterness and unforgiveness, by the Word of God, from the hurtful past in America of Slavery, the racial oppression of Jim Crow laws and legislated racial discrimination, taking him from a bitter life to a better life. Religion Racism and Reconciliation would benefit everyone, Christian, and non-Christian alike, Black, or White, Jew, or Gentile, that wishes to see Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's dream of Reconciliation become a reality - Clyde Morris Pastor, Pennsylvania.
