Rural Kyrgyz have many traditions that appear biblical, causing an observer to wonder if there is a link. Comparing Kyrgyzstan’s national epic Manas with ancient scripture reinforces such a bond; especially obvious is the similarity between “Manasseh son of Jacob” and the Kyrgyz hero “Manas son of Jakyb.”

About the Author
Richard Hewitt (Risbek) came to Kyrgyzstan in 1994 to teach at the Academy of Agriculture in Bishkek. The next year he started a seed project in the high mountains where one Kyrgyz family "adopted" him. In this context Risbek started noticing the similarities highlighted in this book.
