This book takes the new and experienced bodyworker through a visual guide of effective, efficient, and safe body mechanic techniques. In addition, it also explores the psychological and physiological components of proper body mechanics. Why do we do the things we do? With respect to bodywork, our psychological need to perform has a definite physiological effect on our muscle actions and can take us down the path of improper body mechanics. The book includes over 100 full body pictures showing deep tissue and swedish techniques along with detailed descriptions.

Marty Morales is a Certified Rolfer™ and Rolf Movement Practitioner™. Having taken up Reflexology in 1996 to help his wife manage Crohn’s Disease, Marty eventually turned his hobby into a career by pursuing massage therapy training in 2002. Over the years, Marty has had extensive experience working at and teaching body mechanics at high-end spas and chiropractic offices. Eventually, the passion for bodywork evolved into the desire for sharing that passion and in 2005, Marty started teaching at the San Francisco School of Massage. Marty has taught beginning and advanced level classes and has held numerous advanced bodywork workshops in subjects ranging from Deep Tissue Massage to Medical Massage. Marty also travels to spas to provide bodywork and body mechanics consulting. An interest in body movement and awareness (through studies of Judo and Jiu Jitsu) led to pursuing Rolfing® and Rolf Movement training in Brazil in 2008. In addition to doing and teaching bodywork, Marty blends his current and previous knowledge (MBA in Finance) to provide business coaching and marketing classes to massage therapists. Marty lives in San Francisco with his wife Elena, and maintains a thriving practice while teaching throughout Northern California.
