A collection of thirty commented poems of contemporary Chilean poet David Rosenmann-Taub, David Rosenmann-Taub: Poems and Commentaries continues Kenneth Gorfkle’s exposition of the poet’s work in English as well as in his native language. Although critics have widely acclaimed Rosenmann-Taub for the depth and brilliance of his work, the complexity of the poetry has hindered its reception by the public at large. Gorfkle’s commentaries enable the reader to understand this complex poetry; except for the poet’s own explanations in his books Quince and GLOSA they are unique in their effort to bring the substance of Rosenmann-Taub’s work to light. This volume focuses even more narrowly on his poetic philosophy of consciousness, examining this all-important concern from a wide variety of angles.
